Anodyne Light Therapy
Anodyne Infrared Light Therapy is being used by more and more clinicians for the treatment of Diabetic Neuropathy. Infrared light has been shown to increase the production of Nitric Oxide within treated tissue. This then leads to a proliferation of new blood vessels, referred to as "angiogenesis." The increased blood flow that results creates a healthier environment for the nerve tissue, thereby allowing them the opportunity to heal and repair. As a result, the frequent complaints experienced by patients, including burning, pain and numbness, are reduced, or in some cases eliminated. In addition to the sensory changes, many patients with Diabetic Neuropathy are noted to experience frequent loss of balance. Therefore, an exercise program designed to improve strength and balance frequently accompanies the Infrared Light Therapy.
