Injury Prevention

Physical Therapy is not just about treating injuries after they occur. In fact, therapists spend a great deal of time instructing patients on the cause and prevention of injury. Education and prevention can occur in many ways. Therapists frequently will take time during a treatment session to explain the nature of an injury, and what things can be done to prevent future injury. Instruction in proper sitting and standing posture is a common example of this. In addition, therapists are often asked to speak about injury prevention at local health fairs or as part of a company sponsored safety program. Back Schools, Cumulative Trauma Prevention and Proper Lifting Instruction are just a few of the programs offered by the Southtowns Physical Therapy Group.
